Sorry - registrations for the 2024 Student Series are full.
Sands NZ & VCA invites students who will be working with bereaved whānau upon graduation to join us for the 2024 Student Series. This includes midwifery, nursing, psychology, medical, counselling and sonography students. And we also invite new graduate midwives in their mentorship year.
We will be offering 20 topics over 10 months in 2024. You will have access to online content and also be invited to join our monthly discussion webinars with bereaved whānau. We'll also be offering group supervision sessions so you can talk about your placements and your learning with students from other disciplines and institutions.
Our topics are - Grief 101; Grief and Baby Loss; Models of Care; Memory-Making When a Baby Dies; Baby Loss Legalities and Definitions; Self-Care; Caring for Māori Whānau; What Should I Say and Not Say?; Early Loss; Decision-Making Following an Unexpected Diagnosis; Perinatal Hospice; Ending a Wanted Pregnancy; Pregnancy and Parenting After Loss; When a Baby Dies in NICU; Rainbow Inclusive Care in Baby Loss; Fathers/Partners and Baby Loss; Perinatal Pathology; Loss in a Multiple Pregnancy; Kawa Whakaruruhau/Cultural Safety; and Meet My Baby (parents share images of their beautiful babies).
The Student Series is free, thanks to the generosity of Sands NZ.
